As you are probably aware, the major record labels are faced with many difficulties whilst trying to adapt to changing habits of music lovers. TRL Music is one of a new wave of smaller online-based record labels, which primarily use the Internet to its full potential to launch and promote artists. As this is not office-based work experience, we’re able to offer a programme which fits around your own time.
You will be assigned a Mentor and will carry out your project from home. Your full project brief (see The Project List below) will detail the objectives of the project, along with some industry knowledge to help get you started. The success of your project will be determined by your own enthusiasm and intuition. Please note that this is not paid work experience.
WHAT WILL I GET FROM IT?
If you are successful, you will receive the following from the project:
A greatly enhanced CV!
Knowledge of how the Music Industry works.
Regular contact with your Mentor at TRL Music who works in the industry.
The satisfaction of being part of the launch of a new artist.
For successful projects, a personal Reference from the Head of TRL Music, which you can use for future job applications in the Music Industry.
WHAT WILL BE EXPECTED OF ME?
Enthusiasm
A Passion for Music
Excellent organisation skills
Ability to managed your own time and deliver on tight deadlines
Self-motivated
Ability to think outside the box
The reality that you have to work hard to succeed in the Music Industry. If you think it will be easy, don't waste your time applying!
COULD I GET A JOB WITH TRL MUSIC AT THE END OF THE PROJECT?
We cannot guarantee this, but successful projects could open doors for you.
DOES IT MATTER WHERE I AM BASED?
Typically, applicants are from the UK where we are based. But our artists have an international presence so we welcome applicants from around the world.
I’M INTERESTED – TELL ME MORE…
You’ve read this far, so we’ve assumed you have already met the first two criteria:
I love music
I want to gain work experience in the Music Industry
To ensure you would get the most out of the experience, make sure you can answer YES to the following:
I have a minimum of 25 hours spare per week during a three-month period.
I am 18 years old or over.
I have access to a PC and the Internet, and have my own e-mail address.
Finally, we feel it is important that you like the music of the Artist you will be involved in promoting. If you do, your enthusiasm for the music will show through when you promote it. Take a listen to some of the tracks of our artists and tell us who you like and why.
