FROM THE HORSES MOUTH...

The TRL Music Work Experience programme started in 2002, and since then over 40 students have successfully completed their placement. Here's what a couple told us about their experience:

Will B. worked for five months on his placement in 2005:
"The hands on approach combined with the one-on-one mentoring of the TRL programme provided me with a much needed dose of 'real life' experience within the Music Business.

No 'making the tea' here! Within a week I had been fully introduced to, and was working on all aspects of the labels runnings ranging from Marketing and PR to the Licensing & Research duties whilst at the same time receiving constant advice and guidance from my mentor.

Looking back on the experience now, I firmly believe this programme was the backbone in jump-starting my Music Career. It reinforced my reasons for wanting to be in the music industry in the first place and, above all, it gave me invaluable confidence to go and further pursue my passion for music.

I have since gone on to work for a Music Publishers/PR company, an I-Shop, a TV production Company and most recently one of the Major Record Labels.

Becky R. recently completed a three-month placement in 2007:
"Work experience at TRL Music gave me the chance to gain marketing experience with a record company. I had lots of great things to put on my CV at the end of it, and got a great reference. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to get into music marketing."
